Robert Pattinson Biography
Robert Thomas Pattinson is an English actor, model and musician famous for his role as Edward Cullen, a vampire in the Twilight movie. Pattinson was born in London on 13 May, 1986, to Richard Pattinson, a vintage car importer and Clare Pattinson, an employee at a modeling agency. Pattinson is the younger brother of singer Lizzy Pattinson. Some of the schools that Pattinson attended for his education include Tower House School and Harrodian School. Pattinson began his foray into amateur theatre at the Barnes Theatre Company where he had some backstage experience and thereafter acting roles. While in a production of Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Pattinson caught the attention of an agent, which then inspired him to begin looking for professional acting roles.
At the age of 12, Pattinson embarked on his modeling career which only lasted four years. Pattinson has been said to have attributed the decline of his short lived modeling career to the fact that as he grew older, he lost the androgynous look that was in fashion and became too masculine to model. One of his modeling gigs included the advertising campaign for the 2007 Hackett Autumn collection. In the 2004 TV film Ring of the Nibelungs, Pattinson had a supporting role. Another supporting role came in Vanity Fair, but his scenes were later deleted and he only appears on the DVD version of this Mira Nair directed film. Pattinson was to appear in the UK premiere of The Woman Before in 2005, but was fired and replaced just before opening night. Thereafter, he landed the role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. His performance in this film earned him the title of The Times "British Star of Tomorrow".
Pattinson took up the role of Edward Cullen in the Twilight Movie which was based on the bestselling novel of the same name, written by Stephenie Meyer. Pattinson is said to have at first been a little unsure about being able to live up to the "perfection" of the character of Edward Cullen, while auditioning for the role. Thereafter, he took up the Edward Cullen role again in the Twilight sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Other leading roles by Robert Pattinson include playing Salvador Dali in Little Ashes, The Summer House and in the comedy How To Be.
Aside from acting, Pattinson also enjoys composing his own music, and playing the guitar and the piano. He was the singer of two of the songs that appeared on the Twilight soundtrack: "Never Think" and "Let Me Sign". Pattinson also contributed three original songs to the soundtrack of the movie How To Be. Pattinson was a presenter at the 81st Academy Awards in 2009. A documentary filmed by Revolver Entertainment titled Robsessed was released in November, 2009 which documents the life of Robert Pattinson and his popularity. In 2008 and 2009, People magazine named Pattinson one of the "Sexiest Men Alive". He was also Glamour magazine's 2009 "Sexiest Man Alive" and GQs "Best Dressed Man" in 2010.
